The Southbridge School Committee recognized three student recipients of scholarships and a Southbridge Middle School teacher who wan a prestigious award.
Quinsigamond Community College awarded scholarships to Nyhia Ortiz (academics), Oscar Vazquez (arts) and Alexis Ramos (athletics) scholarships under its HACE (Hispanics Achieving and Celebrating Excellence) program.
HACE provides scholarships to support students' educational goals, and aim to invest in the Latino/a/x/e community by awarding scholarships to college students with a drive and passion to further their education and have a passion for community involvement.
Last month, Jillian Levreault, who teaches science at Southbridge Middle School, won a prestigious national award Friday, receiving the Milken Educator Award from the Milken Family Foundation.
She was the only educator in Massachusetts this year to win the award, which came with a $25,000 gift.
