Special Education & Student Services

The Student Services Office strives to provide quality educational and related services to each child with a disability in the least restrictive environment, in accordance with state and federal regulations.  We offer a wide range of programs and services to meet the needs of Southbridge students with disabilities ages three to twenty-two years old.   At the building and district level, our special education teachers and support staff seek to work collaboratively with parents in addressing the needs of the children.

Parent's Notice of Procedural Safeguards

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), the federal law concerning the education of students with disabilities, requires the Southbridge Public Schools to provide you, the parent, with a notice containing a full explanation of the procedural safeguards available under the IDEA and the regulations implementing the IDEA. A copy of this notice is provided to Southbridge parents at the beginning of each school year, and when the following occurs:

• The first time you or the school district asks for an evaluation.
• You ask for a copy of these procedural safeguards.
• If the parent requests a due process hearing or files a state complaint.
• A decision is made to take disciplinary action against your child that is a change in placement.
