What is PBIS?

PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) provides a framework for schools to support student learning and social/emotional health through positive reinforcement, rather than primarily using negative consequences for behavioral concerns.

Since 2018, Southbridge Public Schools has worked to implement PBIS across all schools. Experts in the field have recognized our work as exemplary.

The NEAG School of Education at the University of Connecticut has recognized Southbridge Public Schools as a model demonstration site for PBIS implementation. The Northeast Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Network awarded Southbridge Gold Status for its promotion of PBIS fidelity and commitment to positive, predictable, effective and equitable learning communities.
